Do I have to pay sales tax?
Items being shipped to the State of Texas will be charged a sales tax rate of 8.00%. The tax will be calculated automatically during the checkout process. Items being shipped anywhere else are not subject to paying a sales tax.


What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept payments from Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards, and payments through PayPal. You select your method of payment in the checkout process.


What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of our products, once an item has shipped, we will only accept returns of items that are damaged during shipment, or if we send the wrong item to you. Inform us immediately if your item is damaged due to shipping or if you received the wrong item at: orders [at] modeltrainhobbyist [dot] com. We will then send you an email with the instructions you need to follow.


How do I cancel an order?
Canceled orders must be placed with us as soon as possible. Once the order is processed and shipped, it can no longer be canceled, and cannot be accepted as a return. To cancel an order, email us at: orders [at] modeltrainhobbyist [dot] com.


How can I track my package?
When you receive an email notifying you that your item has shipped, it will include the package’s tracking number. You can go to UPS.com and enter the tracking number to receive the most up-to-date status of your package.


How many days does it take to process my order for shipment?
We process orders in the order we receive them. Usually, it will take 2 to 3 business days for us to process an order for shipment. During the holiday season (October through December), allow an extra 2 days to process your order.


How many days until I receive my item once it's shipped?
Once your item is shipped, delivery could take up to 7 business days, depending on your distance from our warehouse.


How much is shipping?
Shipping is automatically calculated during the checkout process, and is dependent upon the total weight of your order.


I live outside the United States, what is your shipping policy?
Unfortunately, we currently do not ship outside the 48 contiguous states.


Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, APO/FPO, or PO Box addresses?
Unfortunately, we currently do not ship to any of these addresses.


My package arrived damaged, what do I do?
If the item was damaged during shipment, contact us immediately at: orders [at] modeltrainhobbyist [dot] com. We will send you an email with instructions you need to follow.


What method of shipping do you use?
We ship all of our products via UPS Next Day Air, Next Day Air Saver, 2nd Day Air, 3 Day Select, and Ground. We use new boxes and packing materials to make sure your items arrive in perfect condition.


Is my item insured when it ships?
Yes. All of our packages shipped via UPS are insured and included in the shipping cost.


Will I be notified when my order ships?
Yes. You will receive an email with your tracking number when your order ships. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder, as some spam filters may block our email notification.


Do you ship packages overnight?
Yes, we can ship packages via UPS Next Day Air and Next Day Air Saver. Please remember to allow 2-3 business days for us to process your order before shipping.


Is it safe to order online?
Yes. Our shopping cart uses Yahoo! 128-bit SSL encryption, the industry standard for secure commerce transactions.


The item has a manufacturer's defect, what do I do?
If an item is defective due to manufacturing, you will need to contact the respective manufacturer. The manufacturer's information can be found on the warranty information that comes with the item.
